Get a large storage storage drum, perhaps even a matching set.

The big drums measure 12" in height and 11" in diameter. They have a hard plastic handle on the top lid and also a shoulder strap that is removable. Some have several side pocket at outside of bag, one is 8" tall and 5" wide and three skinny ones to hold your knitting needles in.

The small single project great for when you are on the go measures 5.5" in height and diameter. When not in use it collapses to 1" in height for easy storage.
